At Tarncrag Gundogs, every planned litter begins long before a mating ever takes place. It starts with years of living and working alongside our dogs, understanding their strengths, their quirks, their instincts and the qualities that make them truly special.

Breeding, for us, isn’t a moment. It’s a journey. One built on patience, knowledge and a deep respect for the breeds we are privileged to work with.

We pour countless hours into choosing the right pairings, studying pedigrees, assessing temperament and watching how each dog develops in real working life. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is done “just because.” Every decision is made with the future of the breed in mind and with the hope that each puppy will grow into a confident, capable, well‑balanced dog who brings joy to the home they join.

As council‑licensed breeders, we are held to high standards and we welcome that. It reflects the level of care, welfare and responsibility we believe every dog deserves. From pregnancy to early development, our dogs are raised with unwavering attention, structure and compassion. Their wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do.
